Intake installed

Well last night I installed the AFE intake with progaurd 7 filter. Not a fun job when the motor has been running for a long time. Lots of hot parts.
Not a hard instal, but I was amazed at the plastic junk Dodge and Cummins put toward the turbo. Oh I saw the silencer ring, but it was getting to dark to work on that.

After instal, which I like much better than ones in the past, I took it for a spin. I noticed more turbo whistle. Not much, but it can be heard in the cab windows up, and real well with them down. I feel it a bit more on responseiveness, and a bit better gitty up and go. No fuel mileage test yet. I do like the unit however.

Yah, I did the samething, after install, took it for a quick drive. I beleive you are wrong on the turbo whistle though not being that much louder. Go drive your truck for an hour and let it warm up, or hop on the highway, even with the windows up, you hear that WHISTLE!!!!!!! Even when the fan works on highspeed, that whisle is so much louder. Gas mpg def when up too!!!!

I would love to install that but not sure how my dealer would react. They didn't say anything on my 04 with the afe intake. I didn't purchase that truck from them. I wasn't as worried about warranty issues as much with the 5.9 either.

I dont think air intakes will void warrenty. But if they did, it only takes 10 minutes for a swap out to stock, and another 10 minutes for stock to afe once you leave the dealership after fix

Mine went in for the p0245a code today with an airaid system and they didn't say anything about it, just reprogrammed the computer and cleaned the egr valve...no cost.

The only issue I've heard of with dealers and intakes is if they find dust in your intake tube that's gotten past the filter.

You may be right on the warm up thing. I just ran it up the road a mile and back. I will post more when I get a chance. I am going to try and take my stock set up to Scheid Diesel Ex. and run the truck with stock, and then put on AFE and see what if any gains I net. This will be done if time permits on David TD's dyno. I am curious to see this. Especially since I have no enhancements otherwise.

I have not done mine yet. Before I do I would like to know how it would sound and perform with the ring in and out.

Just did my AFE and other mods today, that AFE was a pretty nice kit I got to say, easy to install and alot nicer then the K&N my father put on his truck. I do love to hear that whistle now, didn't listen to the radio all the way home, LOL!
