Input on 2009 6.7L

I'm thinking of trading my 2000 2500 5.9 for a 2009 2500 6.7. I was wondering how the 6.7's were doing now. I heard they had a lot of problems at first, but had most of the bugs worked out now, is that true. I have heard that you can also pull of all of the emissions crap and everything will be fine, but I can't afford to void my warranty if I do trade.

The 2009's are doing fine, no problems. I bought mine,3500, 6 weeks ago and love it with the automatic transmission and exhaust brake. I got 12,000 off window sticker for a Laramie that listed for 52,500. 14,000 trade in for my '03 3500.
good luck

I like my truck a lot ... but ... I'm not to sure it is a wise decision to buy a product from a bankrupt company. Warranty work and parts in the future are a real iffy proposition.

If I were going to buy a new truck today, I would not look at a Dodge or Govt Motors vehicle.

Well that sure opens up a lot of choices....

Ive always thought the other way. I dont care what the company is doing and really dont give a good you know what about warranties. When I buy a truck I mod it like I want and whatever breaks is replaced by me with something that doesnt break.

My 08 has never had a problem in almost 60k miles. It is stock other than the suspension and differentials. It still has the same flash that it had in June 08 when I bought it. It get driven to the store, tows the 5er and the motorcycle trailer. I think the 07.5 had some issues, but a lot were from users putting tuners and such on them without removing the DPF/EGR systems duh. My local service manager has some good stories about the guys who put tuners and then cry that the truck is a piece of #$%%. I am mainly leaving it stock because of up coming smog testing in my state and the truck already hauls the 5er up the grades beyond the speed limits.

I have an early build 08, purchased in the last week of Dec. 07. I have had my share of problems, all turbo related. It was cleaned and then replaced
at 11K miles, cleaned at 22K and cleaned at 28K. It had the latest flash up-
date at 28K. After the latest update I ran 2,000 miles empty and averaged
19.1 mpg running 75 mph. These are the best numbers I've ever had at this
speed. I have not pulled with the new update. While at the CFD Rodeo, I
talked to a Dodge Factory Rep. He was very optomistic about the new
flash and updates. He did not want to talk about "parts falling off" and
programers. I have had some trouble with the ETC light coming on and the
truck running erratic. He said that I've been using the brake and throttle at the same time.
The power is great as is the 6 speed transmission. The exhaust brake is
outstanding, especially, when pulling the 5'ver. The Sirius radio,GPS and
bluetooth combination package is nice.
A friend has an 07.5 that did spend 11 weeks in the shop, after which he
has had few complaints except for fuel consumption. This was not as
bad as another friend's 07 D-Max that spent 13 weeks in the shop. It was
lemon lawed. Lastly, I have to admit that a third friend's 06 Ford just keeps
on keeping on. No problems at 90K.
The Factory Rep did say that all chips and/or programmers leave foot prints
and can be found by a good computer guy.
If you buy the truck, drive with its limits, service it regularly and it will take
you far.
BCD
08 2500 Laramie stock except for a vented tail gate and riderite air bags.

Thanks for all the feedback. It really helped to ease my mind. I traded my 2000 off Wednesday for a 2009, 2500, 4x4, 6.7L, crew, bright silver metallic. So far, I really like it. It probably runs better than my 2000 model with 100hp. injector nozzles; add the edge to the nozzles, and the 2000 will beat it, but for now, I think I'll keep the engine stock. It runs great, and I think it will pull my 5th just fine.

Where are the pics?

I'm sure the 6.7 will keep you happy, and even in stock form they seem to be plenty powerful. Just curious, but did you go with the G56, or the auto? I'd love to have one of those auto's in my 1st gen...

Congratulations on the purchase.

I got the 6-speed auto. So far I really like it; I have heard really good things about it. The only thing I don't like are the small factory tires; 245-70R17; they seem really small, and when I take off, I'll spin the tires without even meaning to. I guess it needs a little weight in the back too.
