Injectors life on a 3rd
I know a guy who is a transport hauler. He runs 5 trucks in his company and has been doing this for a long time. And has ran many of his trucks over a 1,000,000 miles of all makes. The one he's driving is a 2007 ram 3500 with the 6.7 with 800,000 mile on the oem injectors. His 3rd gens. with the 5.9 he told me it was hard to get much over 100,000 miles out of those injectors. I'am looking to up grade my truck and was looking at the apple to oranges debate. Can anyone weigh in on what they know about injectors in these trucks.

They may be expensive but so is a new 5.9 if one or more crap out. Remanufactured injectors are hit and miss and can be problematic for many that purchase them. Buying new injectors is a best practice if you can afford the extra expense.
Some will purchase remans from places like Pensacola Diesel and end up with troubles soon after installing them.

diesel yukon:
I will agree with your friend that the 5.9 CR Injectors are troublesome. On my now sold 2006 Dodge CTD CR, I had to replace the first set at about 94,000 miles. I replaced them with brand new Bosch Injectors and those were starting to give me trouble at about 198,000 miles!
I don't really undertsand why the 6.7 injectors seem to last longer. If you tear down a 5.9 CR Injector and a 6.7 CR Injector "side-by-side" they are very similar.
As Dr. Dizzle pointed out they are ALL EXPENSIVE! But as he said, which I agree with, if you go to buy any of them BUY NEW ONES!
IMHO,....the 5.9 Cummins (Bosch) CR Injectors are JUNK! I think they should last much longer than 95,000-100,000 miles and while some sets may, many DO NOT!

Water is the hardest on the injectors.
I had 406,000 on the originals.
311,000 on the second set.
187,000 on the set when the motor died at 904K
Currently have 152,000 on the ones in the truck now.
No special filtration or modifications.

Injector Life
I installed an Edge Evolution in my 2007 5.9 CTD and have had three injectors go open solenoid on them THIS YEAR. I also had the valve cover gasket with injector wiring molded in them suffer breakdown and failure also since my Edge install.
That is four breakdowns and limp mode in three cylinders! I only use the Evolution for gauges only now. I monitor ten things and think that's great.
I'm afraid to boost the settings anymore as I like a running rig. I used the economy mode only. My truck ran super, much faster and smoother than stock.
I wish I knew if the Edge Evolution wiped them out. I'd like to reprogram it again.
My neighbor has Smarty Jr and his truck just broke down with (I believe) with a P0303 code and is dead in the water! He said it gave them tons of power as they use for work logging.
Let's hope somebody has more answers. Herb
