I just bought my first 6.7 yesterday, so far I love everything but the emissions stuff of course. Previously I have owned a 2002 cummins, 2004.5 cummins, and a 2005 duramax. I just have a few questions for all of you 6.7 owners out there. I notice last night after I drove about 30 miles that the exhuast was incredibly hot and the labels from the factory were melting off. It was never this hot during the day until last night. This happened with about 270 miles on the clock. Do you think this is because it was doing a regen?
I also love the exhaust brake and I turn it on all the time. Is it ok to drive with this on all the time?

Yes it's fine to use the EB all the time. It's actually better if you do to help keep the turbo clean.

Hi Evan and congrates on your new truck. DodgeMan is right driving with the EB on some of the time is good and helps keep the turbo clean is exactly what my dealer told me. Good luck and how do you like the new Dodge compared to your Duramax?
I like the Dodge a lot better. I was not impressed with my duramax at all. It is a 1/2 ton with a V8 diesel. The torque is not made at all until you are at 2500 rpm plus there was no low end torque at all. It had to down shift all the time pulling my 10K fifth wheel. My 2002 dodge even pulled better. On top of that it had $4,000 in repairs in 4 months. Two front wheel hubs, two thermostats, a pump was leaking on my tranny and the tranny had to be dropped and fixed, one computer flash, it gelled up twice this last winter even with a bra and a double dose of anti gel, and when I traded it off it was leaking oil between the tranny and the engine and the front diff was leaking. This was with only 43K miles and truck was stock. Anyone who thinks they have problems with a dodge and actually works a truck DON'T BUY A CHEVY!
