You shouldn't let a 2007.5 and up, idle if you can help it. Fuel mileage is high for some, low for others and some are in the middle so who can say? As far as I know yes there are chips out for 2008 trucks.

There are a few "chips" out for the 6.7. Edge, Bully Dog, mp-8, and PPE that I know of for sure. If you do let it idle it will go into regen more often, and if not driven enough start to fill up the dpf's. I have not had any trouble with mine yet though. I drive about 5 miles each way to work. I don't pull my trailer out much this time of year so highway driving is limited. I get 14 to 15 around town and mixed highway and in town driving yields me about 17. I have gotten a best of 21.9 on a trip back from Colorado.

No dpf problems and as good or better mpg's on this 08, compared to similar trucks of earlier years that I have owned. I love towing with this auto and the e/brake it is the "bomb" as they say. If I could buy any diesel ever build brand new, I would buy this one again. (I have had over 10 Dodge Cummins, and several fords.)

As many problems as the 6.7 is having, I'd wait to chip. Unless you know the dealer really good.

ive pulled my horse trailer with my 05 and usually get anywhere from 14 to 15, with my 07 the best ive seen with a empty car trailer going to texas was 13. and my 05 has to lug around 35's. Pulling the horse trailer with the 6.7 and no pony's in the back it gets 11.5 or so. so how are these new 6.7's so much cleaner if ur using that much more fuel?

My 04 6 spd would get 14-16 pulling my lawn mower trailer around town, My new 07.5 mega cab 6.7 auto w/410's is getting 11.2 with no trailer.I do like the truck, but do miss my old mpg. I am getting the g30 recall done next thursday maybe that will help my mpg.
