Question Getting an 08 - what features are active?

Well I got a pretty good deal which I will share all details after delivery, but I wanted to poll you fine folks for some answers.

I've read conflicting information here on the Idle Up and Exhaust brake features. These are 2 features that are supposedly standard from the factory, but in some threads indicate there are kits too

Can you get these features enabled from the factory?

I'm not just talking cold weather service update (idle 1000 RPM and shut down 3 cylinders)- I'm talking more the adjustable idle control using the cruise control (like what you'd use with a power take off).
Also, I'd like to be able to turn the exhaust brake on and off as I need to

What should come from the factory, and what needs to be provided during prep?

Truck is a 3500 Laramie with the auto trans

Thanks

IIRC the adjustable idle control you are talking about is a dealer inabled feature where after so long without the brake pedal being touched it will bump the idle up.

as far as the exhaust brake i cant be much help there... im sure someone will chime in, good luck!

I have an 08, 2500 auto and it has a on, off switch for the eb, think that is standard because of ice and snow conditions

The high speed idle won't be active. The EB is button activated and defaults to off when the key is turned off. You will like the new truck.

Thanks... I'll see to it that the dealer activates the idle up. From what I've heard its a 5 min procedure

I'm glad to hear that the 08's have a button... Now I just have to sit and wait

I liked my old truck a lot - it never lost its luster... Seems like I'll be waiting for 4- 6 weeks or so, but I'm sure the new one will put a smile on my face too - can't wait!

Thanks again guys

Auto Six Speed Transmission

If you are going with the 68RFE auto trans, you'll have a smile on your face
evertime you drive it. All the fun of being able to shift it like a "stick" or just
let it do all the work for you....one word of advice on the exhaust brake, just
turn it on everytime you start the engine (unless icy conditions) and you will
prevent a lot of soot problems that the early 6.7's had.

Thanks Goat for that advice!

I was saving up to do an Allison swap or bombed 48RE if/when it died. The 68RFE is something I'm really anticipating!
The 6.7 also has 50 more horses and approximately 40 more lb-ft than my 5.9 did with mods.

...cant wait
