To flash or not to flash

I am hearing people talk about what flash they are on. I have about 4000 miles on my 07.5 and have not had it flashed. No real problems. The CEL comes on and when i check for the code there is not one. That has happened three times. I was just wondering should I get the latest flash or wait until something is wrong with the truck and I have to take it to the dealer.

Should be a tag under the hood by the radiator with writing that says what the latest flash is. check and see what you have first.

I just got back from the dealer after getting the Turbo Cleaned and the ECM updated, when I looked under the hood for the tag with the latest Flash information the only one I had was for the flash that was done in March 08 (I believe this was the G30 recall) . Thinking maybe they just forgot to put the sticker under the hood, but was wondering:

1) If there is a way to verify what Flash my ECM is on via a scan tool or some trick?

2) If there is any other location I should be looking for the sticker?

I am just kinda a Nut (my wife calls this obsessive) about this stuff and really like to be informed about the work done on the truck and wanted to make sure I looked everywhere before calling the dealer to ask what Flash they did .

Thanks in advance

Check out the thread on unplugging the EGR valve in these forums. Now that you have the AY flash, you can do this and gain MPG while letting your Cummins breath cleaner air! You'll have the companionship of a constant CEL, but you could gain 3-4 MPG for your headaches... a fair tradeoff wouldn't you say? I recently completed a 900 mile trip (empty except for a slip tank in the back... maybe 1500 lbs) and got.. hand calculated.. 24.7 MPG! The last trip I made of the same route and distance I got just over 20. Once you unplug it, you'll never go back... until you go to the dealer at which time you just plug it back in, erase the CEL and no worries.

Aaaaaannnnnnnndddddd, that's BAD????????

Hey dodgeram_dude, Are you sure??? I just can't understand how you can be getting 10 mpg more than me, unless you idle everywhere you go. I hand calc all of mine and have a GPS to confirm miles driven. Best I have ever gotten out on the open road, empty is 16, and that is after my deletes. What speeds do you drive at????

DL, you know it's that lift and big tires that are killing you on mileage. Heck, my last tank netted me 17.0 mpg and that is with no highway driving. I got 20mpg hwy before my deletes if I drove exactly 65mph and didn't hit any big hills.......
Megas are heavier than QCs too.......

You mean these trucks will go 65? Guess I'll have to test that theory!
BTW, has anyone got GoofBall #2 ? If not I will take it.

OK, I will take three. Odd numbers are better for Goofballs anyway.
Guess I better get back on subject now!!
Since I hate this question,,,,but need to know,,,, what flash do you have. I have the AV flash in my 07.5 and am SKEERED to go get another flash cause you never know what other problems will come up. Besides. Not sure they can even do it with the deletes I have right now. Just curious about the fuel economy and if your flash is different than what I have.
