Fan clutch won't come off

Hey guys, need your help. I got engine code 0483( fan speed) and truck running a little hot so I got a new fan clutch. I went to replace it last night and ran into problems. I have the special removal wrenches but I can't get it break free. I tried hammering the wrench like you normally would but it's not budging. I recently changed the one on my wife's Tahoe and it broke free very easily. Couple of questions -
1) Are these left-hand threads?
2) At this point, should I just pull the whole pulley with clutch/fan out of the truck to make it easier to work on?

Not sure if it matters but my truck is early 2005 (April)

I was turning counter-clockwise and it wouldn't come off. It was late so I quit working on it. Which way is the "right" way?

EDIT: I see what you did there.....
