exhaust brake on '07
All 6.7L engines come with a new turbo that acts as an exhaust brake. The braking comes from a new variable geometry turbo which alters the exhaust back pressure.
The 5.9L has a factory option for an exhaust brake which is a more conventional actuator door after the turbo to cause exhaust back pressure.

I had 3 Ford Powerstrokes, 2 with the 7.3 and 1 with the 6.0. All 3 had aftermarket exhaust brakes installed. One was by Banks the other two were from US Gear. I used all 3 to pull heavy loads through the Colorado mountains and they all worked great.
I would say the EB on my 6.7 works as good as or better than any of those other rigs. Keep in mind one of the big improvements (for me anyways) over those other trucks is the addition of the Dodge 6 speed automatic. In Tow/Haul mode with the EB on the stopping power is incredible. In fact, if I'm towing a boat with surge brakes on it, I have to turn Tow/Haul off and just use the EB in normal mode to keep from constantly locking up the trailer brakes.
