EGR blocker plate for NEW 6.7 ?

I drove a 06 GMC LBC last year... Over on the GMC board there are a TON of guys that have installed "blocker plates" on the EGR. This is so the intake tracks don’t fill up with crap... If you like you can go over to that forum and there are several guys that have taken it apart after XXXXXXX miles and the intakes are fried with carbon crap.. This is a very similar set up as the new 6.7 ( http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=140 )

For the guys that have never been to the other side or even looked at this here some info. http://www.kennedydiesel.com/ (under Duramax Performance) And then "click" LBZ or LLY and its right there EGR BLOCKER.

Has anyone looked into building this 'plate' for the new 6.7 so we don’t ingest all the soot into the new motor like the GMC's . . . Forget the brand for one sec the system is the same concept and the amount of garbage built up in the Duramax motor is CRAZY !

I just have not seen anyone talk about it yet and I did a search. For the guys that are overly protective of the environment, ALL gasses and carbon would still go through the new CAT filter but stay out of the new AWESOME motor!!!!

Any thoughts ???? Please post

For the guys that cant wait to post one of these I did it first !

seems simple enough, but I'm sure DC had to have put at least a dozen stupid sensors that will go crazy if you did this right??? or is it really just that simple??? I mean for the track & all!! LOL heck for that matter could we fab up a butterfly type valve that we could keep closed while we're on the highway & then just open it up for say the strip or dyno runs, or hooked to the sled, u know that sort of stuff??? just a thought, I'm anxious to see where this thread goes, the plate might be something for us "offroaders" to look into! Yea, you want it SHUT all the time so all the carbon does not go back into your BAD $$$ motor ! The EGR on this motor and the GMC is pumping raw exhaust back into the new motor. Over on the GMC site (look at link on first post) they sell a VERY simple "fooler" so it throws no code's.....

You don't need to mess with EGR blocker with the ULSD. It is a lot cleaner.

With all the reading I have done I would agree with you.......

BUT, the new 06 GMC needs to run on the ULSD and these are the same guys that have pulled the intake tracks apart and posted pictures of the garbage that is going back into the motor.... Not arguing with you I would like to keep the intake and valves just as clean as we can....
I was kinda a no believer until some of these guys were posting their situations (many different post, different levels of tear down) but posted pictures and it was shocking to me......

the 06 GMC doesnt NEED to run on ULSD, they just do because that is quickly becoming all that is available.

True,True.......... Im just guessing that the guys that have this crap in the 06 motors are just normal type guys that are buying what is at the everyday pump.. (More than likely ULSD) And the motor is STILL recirculating Diesel gasses back into the intake runners and 'dinking' them up.....

NOT looking to argue good/bad/indifferent But if there is a way that "I" could keep my intake from ingesting burnt Diesel of any kind, I would like to have the option Can't be good for the motor sucking in burnt Diesel of any kind.... JMOP

I am going to take a guess the pics posted will be from running LSD since the ULSD wasn't required at the pumps until October roughly. You may be looking at all sorts of trouble with blocking the EGR since the whole 6.7 is designed around the emissions system in place. Blocking off the EGR will raise the output of BAD gasses and may void your warranty since it is tampering. Are you seeing any posts on the 2007.5 models? Those are going to be the ones run almost entirely on ULSD.

Please let me remind everyone the new ECM's record every event that is unusual to the program, that means THEY know when you kiss your wife good bye and your girlfriend hello, it's worse than a sister or brother. (lol)

The reason the blockoffs work on the GM's is that mod that comes with them to trick the sensors into thinking the EGR is not blocked. The GM has the same overabundance of sensors....they just need to be fooled. Like all the rest of the sensors in the emission crap. Someone will develop that tech soon I am sure...for...offroad....use...only....OF COURSE. Now, lets all get together for a group tree hug.
