Dpf 80%, It Happened!

After a year of mainly local driving, much to my horror, i got the overhead message "80 % full, regeneration required now! didnt know what to expect exactly. Good timing had it, i had to drive 25 minutes to NYC the day of the message. On route to the highway on secoundary roads the overhead read " regeneration in progress" followed by "regeneration complete". That was it- no big deal! regen was done before i even hit the highway. Had visions of crazy fast driving through normally bumper to bumper highways & maybe a trip to the dealer.

sounds good, relieving having it turn out ok, warnings and such can put a sour pit in your gut. I had one I could not figure out, I was getting a chime under hard acceleration, turns out my brake pads were gettin low, drawing down brake fluid a bit, hard accel sloshed the fuid back and was tripping the low fluid sensor.... fast enough to not fully catch what was goin on, all I saw was a big red triangle. that one had me miffed for a few weeks.

Ya, that's the way it should work. Normally the only time I would see the DPF messages was after a prolonged period of idling or very slow driving. But when I was playing around with boost foolers last year, the overhead would give me the 80% message for what seemed like no reason. It made no sense that after a 1,000 KM highway run with the trailer, the DPF would be full half way to work the next day. So I took the boost fooler off, cleared the codes and I have not seen the 80% message since.
