dipstick reading

I have a 2008 ctd. I checked the engine oil and it says its over full and all the way to the top of the plastic piece but I know its not because I've drained it out and measured it and it is almost exactly 3 gallons. I was wondering if anybody else had a problem reading the dipstick at it showing over full when its not

might check to verify that's the correct dipstick.
Find another truck like yours, (year and mofdel same engine etc.) and check it side by side. That'll prove it once and for all.

mine does the same thing one day it shows over full and then the next time it is right on i think it has something to do with where i check the oil and if there is any grade to the gound that the truck is sitting on

I have the same issue...found the best way is to check after sitting in the garage after it has sat overnight...then pull the dipstick and make my reading. It seems that when I pull the dipstick...wipe it and run it back in like i'd do on my car, it pulls enough oil up the tube that its difficult to get an accurate reading.

Tapa daba do...
