I havent seen my dads truck in several months. Last time I saw it it had about 7k on the clock and I ran my finger on the inside of the tail pipe and it was spotless. As clean as could be. I was amazed/impressed slightly.

He came to see me last weekend and he told me that he had a few problems.

Engine knock in the morning ONLY.
He took it back to the dealer he purchased it from and asked them to keep the truck overnight to listen to it in the mornings. The refused. He took it to another Dodge House and they kept it overnight and said the knocking was "normal"
He has that on record now in case something goes wring he can say, "look, the dealer said it was normal and I am not liable to fix it."

Engine light.
Threw a code and had it flashed.

Threw another code and had it flashed again.

He came to visit me and it how has 18,500K on the clock and the rear white dually fender is BLACK as well as the pipe. Whats the deal?

Driving home from visiting me, engine light came on again.
The receipt says (not sure if this is the code but this is what it gave for the description) 130DOZ Module Sensor. The mechanic said two oxygen sensors need to be replaced.



Whats the deal? Do these flashes cause more soot? Could the sensors have been bad the last two times and the guy working the computer just not read it right and the past couple thousand miles it had bad sensors causing all that soot?

I havent been following the 6.7 on here that much so Im kinda lost as far as all of these "codes", "computers", and "particulate filters" nonsense goes.

Makes me love my 12v more and more

Also, a salesman told him that if he calls Chrysler and complains about the truck, Chrysler will buy the truck back from him, minus the cost of wear and tear.
Anyone heard of this?

Sounds like the Diesel Particulate Filter is cracked and needs replaced. It is warranty work.

 

Chrysler gets 3 cracks at a MAJOR problem with no success before they have to buy it back.

Black exhaust - is he running NOTHING BUT ULSD deisel -not LSD and is he using CJ-4 Oil? If no to either or both these WILL cause soot....

 

Dodge is good at buying back vehicles. my 1/2 with a Hemi had a problem they could not fix. I had it in about 13 times. they told me to run it until it blows up I pulled out of the sevice bay and dump the trottle, it coughed and then spun up and BOOM. I had hemi all over the place.

Dodge rep was there that day and said it only sounded like 3000 on the tack. I told him 2500. He told me to pick out any truck I want and he will work the deal.

I grabbed a 05 with the 6 speed. haha I had tocome up with $9000.00 for the deal. so now I have a payment of $150.00 a month. Much better than $350.00

 

I know there is a problem with o2 sensors because there is alot on back order.

 

Your lucky that you didnt get ripped off like I did on my 06. The dealer and the rep screwed me so bad that I am still sick over it. Chrysler would not do anything either. I ended up having to trade for anther 07 but I will never buy another Chrysler product again.

 

9000+ miles and my chrome tail pipe is black around the edges all the time. When I first got the truck it didn't blow much smoke. If I get on it now I can get some smoke but it's nothing like a 5.9. Runs real strong though.
