I have an 07 6.7. Check engine light has came on 11 times since i bought it.Each time i have carried to the dealer the reset it and tell me to keep my engine brake on at all times.It seems they have tied the engine brake to the egr valve. when you turn on the engine brake you can hear the egr valve open. Can this be done?

 

I have not heard of that being done. What codes/troubles are they telling you the MIL is indicating???

The dealer is not doing you any good by resetting and sending you on your way. Suggest a different dealer, if possible.

You are also under the J35 recall. Ask for it, it may fix your problems if your EGR and turbo are not too sooted up.

 

I think you're just hearing the EB when you turn it on (closing), not the EGR. They're not tied together. This is simply a band-aide to help keep the turbo free from all the soot. I would 100% recommend it as welll as using tow/haul.

Do yourself and truck a favor as Blake said and get some relief.

Or at least hammer the dealer on fixing the emission and replacing everything possible and then get some relief.

Blake, I can't recall, is the Turbo considered part of the emissions or just an innocent bystander to the soot destruction.
