Check engine and codes
Check engine and codes
So driving home from work today, the dreaded "bell" goes off, hmmmm need fuel already? I ask myself. Look down and to my surprise the check engine light is on. Oh poop! So I checked for codes and and I got P042e, which is Exhaust gas recirculation control stuck open, and yes, and, P0131 which is 02 sensor 1/1 circuit low. HUH? First question how are these fixed and can one do this themselves or is it off to the dealer? Is the truck ok to drive as is? Thanks for the help, Sam

Sammy did you delete yet?
If not that is usually soft codes for a temporary issue. Spike in voltage or a O2 sensor that had a brain fart.
If you dont want to bother with the dealer (if you have warranty left) just have the codes cleared, drive with the EB and Tow/Haul on for a while to give the system a good workout and see if anything else pops up.
If you did delete by now (I know you were itchin, not sure if you scratched...
) just clear them with the Smarty and keep on a trucking.

Sorry no delete yet, Dave Ramsey visited our house. We are trying to pay off everything including the house to go on the road for good, full time RV'ing. No warranty left, was wondering about a flash perhaps, don't know if it was ever done. The recall was done there is a sticker over the radiator. Thanks Blake

Good deal. Try gettin them cleared and running it like I said. May be a one time incident.
Dave visited my place too. (Kinda, dont agree with all of his stuff but most is good)
Paying off everything like mad, but just to buy another house. Family is growing, just need a bigger place. I will have my ducks in a row before I commit though.
Good luck in your endeavors.
