CEL light

Woohoo! My truck thru the check engine light @ 3190 miles. I feel like part of the family now. I'll call the dealer in the morning. I tried the 3 on/off key trick for the codes and nothing. I have the odo in "trip" mode. Any other tricks to this?

My cel light has been on 3 times for about 50 to 75 miles at a time. My truck has 4200 miles on it.

I never took it to the dealer and the light seems to go away not long after it comes on.

I did call the dealer and they said most likely their is a sensor in the exhaust that gets sooted up and takes a while to clean off.

My wife thinks it is because I am filling up with diesel with the truck running and the computer is getting confused. Go figure.

Let us know what the dealer tells you.

on mine you set the emergency brake before you turn key 3 times and it works. I think a lot of people are still putting the wrong fuel in on other forums i have read some people think that ulsd is an option. www.allpar.com is a good site if you want to keep on dodge

Just because it comes on does not mean it has anything to do with a sensor in the exhaust. Mine caome on as a vane problem with the turbo. Next time it happens they are putting a new turbo on the truck.

Well, today the light is off. Haven't called the dealer yet. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

I just ran out to my truck and did the on / off / on / off / on / off / on trick and the odometer dashed out for 10 seconds and it said done.

I am assuming it would of thrown a code if there was one and I may be having the so called ghost code issue I have been reading about.

My CEL comes on for about 50 / 75 miles then goes away for awhile. System OK and truck runs fine....

Hope this helps....

Skeeter , you may have the dreaded p245a code. Mine gets it and doesn't show using the key method. I have a scanner and it shows there. You may want to get to the Dealer and let them deal with it.

My p245a code came up again this morning (third time). I just stopped by dealer to let him know and tried to wait on tech but he was late and I had another appiontment elsewhere. When I left cel was off and code was gone so I am just going to keep driving this time untill something happens again.
