Can I borrow black tape to cover the EGT gauge?

I know there have been quite a gew posts on the Regen process.
With my EGT installed, I can see when regen is happening. So far, it's about once every 100 miles. Temp pops up to 1300. How is the 6.7 suppose to get 20% better fuel economy then the 5.9 (I think it said this in the original news release on the 6.7) The overhead ave MPG will drop 0.5 to 1.0 MPG during the 12 to 15 minutes. One time, it stayed on so long that the turbo quit, temp dropped to 900 and CEL came on, the code confirmed that the turbo had quit. My truck gets almost zero idling. On the highway -- 6000 miles in 6 weeks.
This is driving me nuts - I want my 5.9 back!!
You folks with EGT guages or programmers - how often is the regen occurring? What is normal?? Had the lastest flash 3 days ago and they cleaned the turbo (don't know what that is). 10 miles away from the dealer and it starts the regen. Yuck! Thanks.

The best answer I have for you is to make the truck stop regening........DO THE DELETES (DPF, EGR/EGR Cooler) You'll improve your fuel mileage, no more regens, and you'll improve the life of your cummins!!

Ours does a regen about every 100 miles (ba flash), more often if we're puttering around town. I have unplugged the egr and my intown fuel economy went up about 3-4 mpg. Stayed the same when towing. Are you running good fuel? I use a lubrication additive thats made for use with the dpf and so far have not had any issues (had truck for 2 months).
