IMO, until hydrogen is developed as the mainstream fuel of choice for transportation, no amount of drilling will solve this problem over the long term.

Thanks to human nature, we're probably 25 years behind the curve.
And just how would hydrogen be any more efficient? It is made from oil or energy is used to break it out of water. Then a whole new and way more complicated delivery system is needed to get it to the car and store it there. It either has a ridiculously high storage pressure and constantly leaks, or in liquid form is just off the charts on energy consumption to produce and must constantly vent to stay cold and under control. I just don't see it as practical.

Look at hydrogen as an energy "battery" not as an energy source. It's fun to think of a car with water as the exhaust but it won't happen on a massive scale. Electric cars have a far brighter future as a way to commute.

What about on-board hydrogen refomulating (electrolysis)? kind of an electric car (electricity used to produce hydrogen) without the battery.

Yeah, I'm sure that BIG HEAVY flatbed doesn't have anything to do with you getting crap mileage?

Coal to Gas!!! We have a 200+ year supply all by itself. Then get into ANWAR and drill through the head of a Caribou if you need to and get the oil...Our gov't just needs to get the hell out of the way.

Don't know what most of the above posts have to do with original topic but my advise is to get the 08.I've had mine since January and it has been absolutly a pleasure to drive.A friend at work has the dreaded 07 and drives the crap out of it hauling hay and horses and has not had a bit of trouble. Think about it, all vehicles have problems with some units and it only stands to reason that the people with problems are more vocal about it. Most people who have have no problems are not going to get on a forum and say how much they like their trucks. I take some of the complaints with a grain of salt when I look at the signature and see all the mods on some of the trucks. I'm not against modifying your ride but when you do be prepared to possibly suffer the consiquences.

My 99 lost no milage got 18 city. My brothers 98 gets 18 city and my Dads 04 gets 1 MPG less on average. All three have flatbeds! Why in the world would I drop 4 MPG with just the flatbed??

BTW, it is a wood deck bed and doesn't way that much more than the original bed does. I don't have any numbers, but I do know that 3 guys can lift it off if it is undecked

Never had any problems

I have a 2500 quad cab 4x4 6.7 automatic 2007.5 Honestly, I have never had problems although my dealer did keep the reflashed current whenever I took it in for oil changes. My truck is mostly stock.

Mileage highlway 18-21.7
in town 14.5 - 15.0

Highways speeds are generally 65 to 75.
In town, you really have to keep your foot out of it. On the highway I always use cruise. With a slide-in poptop camper I can still get 15 @ 55.

The regeneration isnt a big deal if you bother to run it occasionally on the highway. I live in the mountains so I actually use the exhaust brake coming down steep grades. I dont know how I would live without that feature.

Kind of nice only having to make oil changes.

Mineral gray 2007.5, 6.7L Cummins, Banks cold air intake, stock tires, automatic, no chips, the exhaust that came with it.

Don't kid yourself about fuel prices going down if supply goes up. Never has happened, never will.
