If you are towing heavy (10,000lbs and up) and have a module ( I have the XZT, 65hp), be prepared to have to install a aftermarket clutch. If you are keeping the engine stock, I don't think you will have a problem though.

With the 305's on my truck they dropped the RPM's in 6th about 100rpm.

Northernwheeler is right!! If you are going to pull heavy the stock g56 won't last that long on a modded truck.
The G56 OD ratio is different with the 6.7 vrs the 5.9 and this time the change is a good thing.

If u were towing a load normally between 15k -20k everyday normally for at least 8 hours of they day on mostly highway driving, Truck never in city driving, do u think the 6 speed auto would need any extra upgrades or 6 speed manual better for that reason?

go with the auto. they are rated with a higher gross weight towing ability. i have had both and i tow a 53' closed trailer coast to coast, up and over mountains and past every Ford and Chevy i come accrss.

Not from personal experience, but for straight, heavy highway towing that you are describing, I'd go w/ the stick shift for sure.

If a Clinton lover says go with the auto, then it's settled. Go with the manual!
