Advise on buying new 6.7

I've got an '04' dually 5.9, and I absoultely love it. Never had a single problem with it. I'm considering buying a 2010 dually 6.7 but I've been hearing the engine has a few issues. Is this new 6.7 as good as the 5.9's? Any input would be appreciated.
Also, with regards to the excessive emission components on the engine, is it possibe to remove these items, and/or install any aftermarket computer chips or procedures to improve the motor?
One more thing.. how's the automatic tranny on the 6.7? My '04' has the 6sp manual, because when I bought it in '04' I heard too many people weren't impressed with the shifting of the auto.

I have an 08 and I removed the DPF and unplugged the EGR >> Now it acts just like my 04 5.9 did and the auto 6 sp tranny is a LOT better than the old 4 speed POS...
My only complaint is the DPF and EGR >> But for $600 you can deal with that and get a programmer if you want to clear the CEL (I didn't worry about the CEL >> It is now an "Engine ON" light.)

Boy, normally I would say "if thats what you want, get it!".

But with the prospect of the economy tanking even further in the next few years ... my opinion (and we all know what opinions are like), would be to keep your good running truck and put the money you would have used to purchase a new truck into some tangible appreciating assets.

I am two payments away from owning my 2008 and will be buying up assets with that money afterwards.

The 6.7 is a good running engine but it wont get the fuel economy of your 04 and i assure you that. As far as the emmisons and the computer on the 2010 engine i believe they are still doing the research under how to crack the ecm to let you play around with the emmisons ect..and it is not like our 07s to early 09s ecm. My 6.7 is an absolute power house compared to my old 04,6sp but all said if i had to do it all over again id prolly would of kept my 04 and it would of been paid for a long time ago so im goin to have to agree with fatcats post 2.

Im with you on that.. I am about 4 payments away from owning my 04.5 (finanaced it for 6 years!) and I can tell you, I won't be jumping into another payment for a long time for myself. We may be my wife a car, but who knows. Either way, I am gonna stick with my truck.
