67K Service part of warranty?

I got the "Perform Service" overhead message (no codes thrown) at about 67,700 miles on the odometer. Truck was running fine. I couldn't clear it conventionally (like "oil change"), so I took it to the dealership.

Well, after almost $1000 later, I find out that all of the "fixes" (CCV clean, EGR clean, air filter clean, etc.) may be required, according to the dealer, to avoid voiding the warranty!

Be careful with this! I don't know if it's true or not, but please check it out when you get a "Perform Service" lite with about 67.5k miles.

its not covered by warranty as it is a service. if you have mechanical abilities then you can do it yourself

I got the same message. Was able to erase it by turning key to "on" and pressing the brake and then the accelerator twice. I had already replaced the CCV filter (VERY easy job). I have the gaskets for the EGR and will clean it myself at first opportunity. The EGR cooler is supposed to be cleaned, too but I'm gonna fudge on that one (perhaps find an individual who can do the work). I would never pay a dealership that kind of money for a relatively easy do-it-yourself procedure.

Just wondering if I skip this "Required Service" if it will hurt anything? I drive my truck pretty hard, So I'm hoping it should be pretty clean inside.... Any thoughts?

you will still need to change the crank case filter and perform the reset procedure or the perform service light will stay on

Opps.... I should have mentioned I planned on changing the CCV Filter...
The Cummins dealer wants $98 for the CCV Filter!
