For the 6.7L HATERS just an FYI
In 2000 or 2001 I saw the first 3500 dually come in the dealer I worked that had a window sticker busting $40,000. It got some add ons like $2k worth and was sold, gone in 3 days at the POSTED price.$42k plus tax and what ever.Big difference then and now in what the consumer gets and pays for.
One of my neighbors is a Ford regional service engineer and he told me the 6.4 is really just a modified 6.0. They increased the displacement and made changes to the heads and and added some more emisssions stuff. He says it's a good motor but I haven't talked with him lately since the Dodge showed up in my driveway.

6.4 will only be around for a couple years, but not cause International is going to redesign it.
Also from reading from the Cummins website, the 6.7 carries over a lot of the parts from the 5.9lt. The head is the same and block has some new upgrades such as bedplate and strong rod bearings. The 6.7 is not a WHOLE new enigine. Some friends in Okalahoma have a Case IH with a 6.7 12v. So that tells me it be around for a bit. Just as cummins still makes the 5.9lt 12v with either a VP-30 or P-pump on them.
I don't understand why they are getting such bad milage. My neighbor with his '02 Kenworth pulling a tridem lowboy can get 7 mpg!!! How is it my truck empty I might get 15mpg
(calculated to US gallons) and about 9 pulling 10,000lbs at 65 mph. I am so disapointed with my milege. I here people on here getting 20mpg and i can't help but get upset with mine.

I've noticed that the people who work the engine hard for the first 6,000 miles of engine break in seem to get better mpg then those who don't and or just drive it hard. I guess I should say for that was for the 5.9 but think it may be the same for the 6.7.

all of you guys think the 6.7 is so great, what about diesel in the crankcase, what about the plugged up dpf, what about the bad fuel mileage, 7.8 to 9.2 if you drop it off a mountain. blown up 6.7 plus turbos, spend more time in shop than it is on the road. they said they built a semi out of a 1ton truck. you think that is a big joke? plus leaving you stranded every where. wait till you try to trade it off. out of over a $50,000.00 truck, had about 6 mo, offered me $25,000.00 trade in!! you talk about a real turd.put this in your pipe and smoke it. nothing like getting stabbed in the back for owning a dodge.ANOTHER BIG TURD!!!

You would have done better selling it to a private party. You got ripped by some dealer who knew you hated the truck. I traded a 130k car on my truck and lost 35k. I knew I could have cut that in half if I sold it but I didn't want the hassle.I never went on the BMW m6board.com and bashed the car because I was too dumb or lazy to sell it outright. I knew I had made a decision of trading it in which meant they were taking the car from me-literally. Mechanical items have problem and throughout the assembly line there will be product that are not assembled like others. It has allot to do with the tolerances of parts available and labor. EVERY vehicle manufacture will have problems. I don't care what brand it is.
I think some have to remember about the break-in. When I bought my 06 I saw on this board that owners were getting 18 - 20 on the highway. I bought the truck in NH and drove it 200 miles back to NY and got a whopping 14! I was bent... and that was when Diesel was $2.57/gallon (Yup, that was only two years ago).
Anyway, I have 38kmi on it now and it got me over 22 mpg on the highway at 67mph on a similar trip to NH recently (hand calc'd). I have to say, I didn't/haven't work the truck at all since I have owned it. I tow a max of 4500lbs if that... and only a couple times a month. I didn't see my mileage go up until over 30kmi.
All I am saying is... regardless of the manufacturer, miles will only tell the true tale.

great thread
I don't have the 6.7, and I don't hate it either. I just can't figure out why the new 08 powerstrokes are selling? I read about the reliability, of the previous powerstroke, scared me away from a used 05 ford drw, that was low price at a GMC dealer.
Seems that the 08 fords are becoming prevalent at a promanent rv website and the guys are beating their chest about them. I can't figure it out?
I hate $4 gallon diesel, but I really like my Dodge
