6.7L dodge 5500 need technical help asap
2009 dodge ram 5500 slt with 21,000 km's
what is the dodge 6.7L injection pump idle pressure susposed to be?
i'm finding its dropping off. starts at 7000 and starts going down to 4000.. and then will stall out. i swapped lift pumps and injection pumps and its still doing the same thing. it feels like its running outa fuel.
it feels like a bit of a miss at idle but revs up fine. injection pump pressure does go up considerably when you rev to like 2000.
long story: customer took the truck to dodge 4 hours south; contaminated fuel you have to change all your injectors and they recommend injection pump and lift pump and rail. they quoted $20,000 and the customer towed it to me to fix.
i swapped out the injectors, lines, connecting tubes, rail, injection pump, lift pump so far and it does have a new filter in it.
i'm about ready to cry myself to sleep!!

That bit of a miss at idle is biting you in the butt.
If you can get it to run long enough, do a cylinder cutout test, it sounds like you have a really bad injector, or perhaps an improperly seated connecting tube. Bad enough that its dropping the rail pressure out the bottom at idle.
Something else you could check is the rail pressure relief valve, although if it is making pressure at RPM, I don't see how the relief valve would be the main issue.
Just something to think about.
