More powerful= Probably the 6.7L, only if you have a 6spd auto, because of the auto and keeping you in the torque curve better w/6 gears. I would not own a 6.7 if I had the option, all I can recommend is drive both for yourself. I was very disappointed in every 6.7L I have driven, why couldn't DC have mated the 5.9L w/ a 6 spd auto, would have been the perfect truck for us auto lovers! Also MAKE SURE TO Pop the hood on both trucks, which one looks like less to go wrong. Murphy's law!

why would you be disapointed with the 6.7 with the 6 spd auto it has more power and more rpms than the 5,9 only thing i dont like about it so far is mileage but its slowly getting better

I drove both recently and the 6.7 wins hands down. Performance is very strong. It's quiet with just enough rattle to let you knowit's a Cummins, smooth, an the trans works great. Love the built in exhaust brake too. The interior is better also. It may be the deciding factor.

The 5.9 will need a box to keep up with the 6.7

All except for a 5.9/NV5600 on top end maybe

exactly! I have a feeling 2007.5 6.7s are going to be very limited on mods. THerefor I would much rather have the moddable, dpf-less, anykinda diesel drinkin' PROVIN 5.9L CTD. I'll buy a built 6spd auto tranny some day when they get the conversion figured out or just get the built allison and have the best of both worlds. 6.7s are fine for people who are happy w/ STOCK, myself and many others just find stock a little . So this whole MY STOCK 6.7 TRUCK WILL BEAT UP YOUR 5.9 STOCK TRUCK debate really bores me.

If you are thinking that the 6.7 will never be able to have mods and will always have a DPF behind it....

There are scientists as we speak working in stealth laboratories changing stock 6.7’s into monsters that eat 5.9’s for lunch. Beware……monsters are coming! (long evil laugh)

I was out at my ranch yesterday 2 hours from home and got a chance to drive a 6.7....with a HOT juice on it. All I have to say is WOW!

the new auto tranny is light years ahead of a stock 48re. The manual down shifting, exhaust brake, etc, its an awesome truck. If i can't get my 5.9 to stop breaking something, i may be a 6.7 owner. Granted most of my problems are due to my level of mods, but I need a reliable vehicle.

The 6.7 is an entirely different animal from a 5.9. Power is totally different and I like it. I'm no longer afraid of the EPA restricted 6.7!

No - actually I have a Bullydog PowerPup for my truck, and it will put down almost 480Hp on the dyno with the performance download! Stock exhuast, stock intake, bone stock other than the downloader. I don't run the downloader all the time, just when I want to have fun. Also, I have had no engine lights with the PowerPup, and I had a tech at the dealership scan my ECM to see if the downloader left "secret codes" and there were none.

From my angle it looks like the end of the line for the 5.9! Even though I still own one!

We'll see, time will tell all. I guess I'm the only one reading the 6.7L forums w/ all the issues.

98.5POS, Do you have a Dyno sheet on that claim? 480hp on Perf setting.

So you are saying you would rather have a moded engine with 400 hp rather than a stock engine with 500 hp, you don't do much racing or pulling hu This motor has only been in the public's hands for 6 months, my bet is by September for those who can afford to be their own warranty station there will be plenty to spend money on.

Sounds like this 6.7L is your 1st diesel, by the way ford and chevy BOTH make trucks w/ awesome diesels in them. Maybe you should add one of each to your powerful stable 500HP w/ stock trucks

Yep and I just came out of the turnip patch and just got off the bus, and I must say I stand corrected, there is no substitute for CI except cubic money AND poor engineering both the joke and max had more CI but less torque at low rpm's and that equates to less pulling power. So yep you got me there

look guy....stop!

i have both here, in fact they are both nice engine!! however like it or not the 6.7 is the replacement of the 5.9!! in 2007.5 the 5.9 is not invailable anymore, in 2008 the 5.9 will not be invailable even on the dealer yard, except for some?? so nobody will have choice to go with the 6.7..(for those who gonna buying a new truck) sure the 6.7 have a overabondance of sensor on it! but?? does cummins had really the choice to don"t put the "dpf" and all the stock on this engine? the awnser is NOT....

go to some forum, and read in gm section and even ford, you"ll see that its even worse compare to dc about the new emission systeme for them..
