6.7 oil
I am quoting from Turbo Diesel Register . Com in issues 76 May/June/July 2012. On page 52 the topic is lube oil version 2012 in this article the author discuss the new oil requirements for the API CJ-4 oil. His final recommendation is to use Shell Rotella T 15W-40 as the best oil for cost/price/value for the Cummins engine.
You can read the article on like; if you Google it. TDR.COM has done several studies and published them in their quarterly publication and our available online.
I have been using this oil for my last four oil changes and have had excellent results as far as my oil sampling and driving usage with my truck.

I also use Shell Rotela 15W-40 CJ-4 oil. If I can't find it I'll use Mobil Delvac, same specs. Mobil is usually about a dollar/gallon less at Walmart. Since I change my oil more frequently than required I don't think brand makes a difference. Just gotta make the specs are right for the Cummins.
