Hello all, i have a question that I hope someone can answer. My 07 got ran out of oil and seized the crank, but later freed up and now has a rod knocking..only 75,000 miles on it..anyway my girlfriend(responsible party) is paying for new engine. We found on craigslist here locally a 6.7 that was used in a school for cummins techs..so has no mileage on it, just some run hours on stand...but here is my concern, iam wondering if cummins made a different 6.7 for like 18 wheelers, or other industrial uses. There is a tag on the engine that states 190 hp, and as you know the ram 6.7 is rated 350 hp. Also there are differences inthe intake manifold, exhaust manifold and the harmonic balancer....which i know can and will have to be changed. The exhaust has the turbo mounted right at the head between cylinders #3 and 4...Anyway does anybody know if this engine will work on my truck? I have serial number of engine and more that are on the tag...thanks all

Already did. I have been comparing images off the net of 6.7's and it looks like the l;ong block is the same, just all the bolt ons are different. Like the housing on back of the engine-bellhousing for lack od a better term, but it just bolts on the block, and same with the front cover that covers the cam drive is different, but I believe all my covers and intake, and exhaust, and oil filter housing etc will all bolt on-at least I hope so. If not it is a 3000.00 mistake...But this engine has zero hours on it..looking in the oil filler hole, and down the turbo all clean as a whistle....

 

The HP rating will be whatever configuration he puts the engine in at, since he will pretty much require is old configuration to run, the HP rating will revert back to his stock HP.

 

Are the internal specs the same such as cam and timing?

 

Yes I was thinking the same thing that the horsepower would be back to stock specs with my injectors, my computer, my intake system, my turbo and exhaust system...Figured all the heads, pistons and cams were the same...

 

I just heard from a diesel mechanic that you have to pull the cab off the truck to do an engine swap.....is that true?? Is there not anyway it can be done with the body in place??

 

LOL, tell him it isn't a Ford 6.7 but a Dodge 6.7.

Fords you have to pull the cab to do just about anything....... Dodge it comes right out.
