Has anybody out there been using Power Service in their 6.7? I am thinking of trying it because the Stanadyne is hard to find around here. Wal Mart has the Power Service. Power Service says its DPF safe.

I just rolled over 300 miles on my new 6.7, so far no engine lights or anything. I hope I don't have the same troubles some people have been having on this forum!!!!! It's scary to me to hear all the problems they have been having with the 6.7's.

I was freaked out to, I never would of traded my 5.9 if I read ALL the posts, but then again how many thousands or hundred of thousands did they sell with no probes but then again what about those guys that don't have computers to talk about there truck that was bought back by dodge because they could not get the CEL to turn off.....like the one in the parking lot at my local dodge dealer.

Let me ask you, what do you think about the 6.7? Do you think it is a good motor, or junk compared to the 5.9?

Right now I am getting about 13.2 mpg in a mix of city and highway driving. Our area is pretty hilly too. Is this bad mileage for the 6.7? I have the quad cab long bed.

TEACH ME!!!!!!!!

Hope to hear from you soon.

Goofy fuel?

I just got back from Minnesota in a new 08 one ton. Mileage from Butte to North Dakota ave. 17. Mileage in Nodak and Minnesota was 12.7. On the return trip was the reverse. Back in Montana at 7000 ft I'm averaging 17.2. Our diesel foams but the juice in the flat land didn't. I was trying to find the sweet spot for mileage; my 02 could get 18.8 at 60mph. At 55mph I couldn't get the turbo to 1500 and the mileage sucked. Does anyone have any answers or is it just best to stay out of the flat land?

I put BG diesel treat in mine this tank.

Odo is at 4900 now and I put BG treatment in it this tank, so far it has not done a thing for me, possibly lower mpg's, too soon to tell.

I picked up my '08 from Hickory, NC on the 1st of December and drove her the 1340 miles home to Alice, TX that day. From the first tank of fuel on, she has had Power Service ULSD formula in her and I haven't had a problem yet. Bone stock, 6-speed manual and 3.42 gears, she neeted 16.75mpg on the way home. Once i installed the level lift and 325/70R17 Nitto's, mileage fell (mixed city/highway) to around 13.2mpg. I also just drove to Kentucky and back pulling my box trailer, unloaded on the way there, heavily loaded on the way back. Averaged 10.5mpg for the entire trip. I changed my oil at 2000 miles and installed a Wix filter and Delo 15w40 oil. I changed again at 6000 miles (which is where I am at now) and the oil was dark from pulling so heavy but still clean. I have had ZERO problems out of this truck and she pulled the weight like it wasn't even back there. Sure, i would LOVE some better fuel mileage. I am thinking of swapping to 3.73 gears as i think the 35" tires and 3.42 gears keep my RPM's a little TOO low on the freeway @65mph. I will also be one of the first to purchase and try a Max Mileage Module from Quadzilla as soon as it is released for the 6.7L. However, one thing I will NOT do is cease using the Power Service. My '01 has had Power Service in nearly every tank of fuel for coming on 330000 miles and is still on the original injectors. Same story for my father's '05 with 110000 miles. I realize this 6.7L is a whole new animal, but it is still a Cummins so I trust it to run forever if it is taken careof. The main reason I will not stop using Power Service is BECAUSE of the ULSD. With the lower sulfur content, the fuel has decreased lubricity than before. Sure, dodge says that the new engine is designed to ensure the top end is plenty lubricated but I want to know HOW. Since that has yet to be explained to me, I will take my top end lubrication into my own hands with a dash of Power Service in every tank.

I apologize for the life story of the new truck thus far, but i felt all of that information was relevant to this topic as it is hard to answer a question like this with a simple "yes" or "no."

actually, i plan on swapping in 3.73 gears at mine and my checking accounts earliest convenience. I think with the taller tires it would be in my best interest.

I agree with what you say about the lack of lubrication in the ULSD. You said you chainged the oil at 2000 and at 6000. Did you get a light to change the oil, or were you just doing regular oil changes with no warning light?

Does the truck seem to run very well with the Power Service? Does it have a lot of giddy-up?

I would trust Power Service a lot becuase they are the largest maker of diesel supplements in the country. They sell an awful lot of it.

Any more info you can provide would be appreciated.

I've been using Howes Lubricator Diesel Conditioner & Anti-Gel since the truck had 2500 miles on it. It has 10,000 miles on it now and I have been avg. about 17 mpg mixed driving. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the conditioner or not, but 17mpg I think is pretty good considering the cubic inches of this engine. Howes coplies with the low sulfur vehicles
requirements for <15ppm content for the additive. I have 9 diesel vans and trucks in my fleet and all but two of them have between 150,000 and 250,000 miles on them, and these vans (ferds) get beat to you know what.
We have always used this treatment so I do'nt know if it has helped or not,
but I'll stick with a good thing if I think it's working.

Don't use additives.

Change filters at about half the recommended mileages.

I haven't seen my "change oil" light come on yet. I have just always changed the oil in new diesel trucks at 2000 miles, 5000 miles, and 10000 miles. This time i was on the road at 5000 miles so i had to wait until i got home which put it at 6000 miles. The oil was dark but still clean and unburnt at 6000. The truck runs fantastic. It has 3.42 gears and 35" tires but you would never tell it by driving the girl, she pulls through every gear swiftly and smoothly. Coming back from KY i was loaded with >14000lbs. both in the trailer and in the bed of the truck and she pulled through the hills of Kentucky and Tennessee without a single hitch. So far, other than the limited availability in my area of ULSD and the lower fuel economy than i was hoping for, i couldn't be happier with the truck. She is everything i need and want her to be.

Like many others out there, though, i have no way of determining whether or not the Power Service is behind my new truck running so well. I can't also be sure that the Power Service is partially responsible for my '01 having 326000 miles and still being on the original injectors. However, I look at Power Service much in the same way I look at a handgun and a condem: I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

How many hitches did you pull with? 2 -3 maybe even 4. if you have a picture that would be interesting, maybe you are on to something here.

Can you tell i'm bored.
