4WD issues

I noticed yesterday when I shifted my truck into 4wd that it made an awful popping and cracking noise. It still pulled like normal, just didn't sound like normal. Any ideas??

wrong forum

well sorta per say, you need to be in the 5.9 section based on you signature.. more information on what range also you went into, four hi or four low.. Low will clunk from time to time till the gears line up right for proper engagement, never had that happen in four high, but i would not rule it out..

secondly, how is the t case fluid level?

thirdly, were you steering while you shifted?

fourthly, your front diff has proper fluid level?

fifth, front u joints ever been checked?

just goin through some basics to better diagnose what your issues with the system are...

yeah... I realize that now. I came back to check to see if I had any replies and realized I put it in the wrong forum. Whoops! I'm about to go out and check the fluid levels. U joints were good 2 months ago. It was a straight shot up hill in 4 high, I've got the electronic engagement. I switched it, let it roll back then went up the hill popping and cracking. Maybe a mod will see this and move it for me
