Tyler,

Go to this link and type in your info:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

You should be fine with your 3.73 GR, If your pulling 20K trailers up 10K passes daily then I would not recommend it.

I didn't notice a differnce when I went from 265 to 285's. My next move it to 255/80's. They are lighter than the 285's, and roll 11 times less per mile, so they should help mpgs.

What RPM are you turning at 75 with that set up? I turn about 2400 and would like to slow it down some so I'm thinking 285's or 315's would be a good step from the 265's..

I turn 2160 at 75.

If your refering to your 05 with a G56 285's would drop you to about 2350, and 315's to 2230. You may also consider 285/75's, they would drop you to 2260 rpms.

You should be getting some good mpg's in that range.. I drop to the 18's when I get over the 2200 mark under that I'm at 20..

I don't want to go to tall on the tires as I pull a GN

I don't do too bad. At 80 I am at 2325. I did a 2500 mile trip in october doing 80 90% of the time and averaged 16.3 mpgs. I am not going to complain about that.

Taller tires are good and bad. One is they drop rpm's in OD so its harder to pull, but they allow you to go a bit faster in 5th for the same rpms. With a G56 and a .79 OD ratio I am not sure you would see any decrease in pulling power with 255's. Personally with the NV5600's .73 OD there are many more hills I can't pull in 6th that I could if I had a G56.. So I figured why not drop the cruise rpms and 5th gear rpms at 65 a bit more.
