I was planning on towing in fifth gear (theres a stifter so you can manually shift gear, its slightly different than 08), the truck still better gear ratios than the old four speed auto. Two lower gears and one higher than the RE47. Worst case, is that I hook-up my old truck and show the 6.7L how its done properely. I just put in new brakes on the old truck, man what a difference. I'm kinda wondering if I should have even bought the new truck as my 02 is just starting to run decently. I just have 260k on the speedo, the motor is just starting to get broken in but I do have two spent upper ball joints. I wonder if the new truck ball joints will be better than the old stuff.

Once that emission stuff is gone, fuel mileage will go up. Edge is coming out with a new race box to bypass that dpf and egr junk so I can run an 03-07 3rd gen aftermarket exhaust.

All the 07.5 and up 68RFE have the manual shift selection. I just found that the truck would pull in 6th with no complaints. The extra steps down low make starting out less of a lug. First gear barely makes it through the cross walk.

The weakest link is gonna be the the tranny. It can't be any worse than the RE47 tranny. Just with 3.42 its gonna shift lots, until I get rid of the torque management that the computer has. I bet she'll pull not to bad at low rpm's, just need a nice twin turbo set-up under that VGT. Have you thought about changing injectors? It can't be that bad. The only thing I don't what to toast in this truck is the engine, the rest I can work around. You know how I baby my stuff.

The tranny is the weakest link, more over the TC... Supposedly only good for about 60 hp over stock. But with the Smarty, the torque management is adjustable and supposedly you can toast it with just the minor tune.. Torque is not an issue with this engine.

As far as injectors, I have only seen nozzles available so far as the injector bodies are Serial number locked to the ECM. You need StarScan to change injector bodies from hole to hole, never mine engine to engine.

I was reading on the internet that the stock fuel filter is a 10 micron filter. This allows junk to collect inside the injector and cause issues. A lower micron filter is required to prevent this issue. Of course this will cause the fuel system to work harder. Those replacement injectors are pricey and then you have to get the dealership to reflash the computer for the new injector. I might just install a FASS or airdog system that has a 3 micron filter just for a piece of mind. My older truck didn't care and just burnt the bigger junk bits.

I think the O9 and newer canister style filters are higher rated, more down to 5 micron IIRC. They are adaptable to the 07.5 and up, but Cummins doesn't have the elements available yet.

I think that I read into much sometimes but someone is gonna have to fix that the injectors are fixed/locked to dodge ECM, so we can put in new sticks. Thats a lot cheaper than getting dodge or cummins to do the computer programer adjustment.

I haven't read anything yet, but I am not certain that the bodies are going to be that bad. A set of 50 hp nozzles are around $1000.
