2008 cummins 6.7

Hello dodge cummins fans, this is my first post its great reading your post to learn about these cummins. I used to drive 18 wheelers, about 25 yrs, ago this is the first cummins i've had in a pickup. Its a 2008 6.7 and when i use the exhaust brake I smell oil. Is this commen or is my turbo bypassing oil? It seems to be spooling fine. Marvin

I run with the e-brake on all the time and have not noticed that.

you better hope that no oil is bypassing into the turbo or you just might end up with a run-away motor and won't be able to shut it down if it was mine i would have it check out ASAP hope all turns out ok

If it is bypass oil then you may have a big issue on your hands.

I would think that its the CCV that may be close to the end of its life and your are getting the oil smell that way.

How many miles on they truck?

Open your air filter box and peek in where the CCV tube is plumbed into the intake. Any extra oil?
