2007.5 gauge install instructions
2007.5 gauge install instructions
I have searched all over and cannot find thread. I have isspro 3 gauge a-pillar w/ pyro, boost, and trans temp. Instructions were for a 5.9. My installer says it totally different. He does this for a living. If someone could please tell me how and where you mounted the three probes it would be greatly appreciated. By the way they look great just not real useful not hooked up.
We used this from Diesel Manor.

It is not completely accurate for the 6.7 and 6 speed, but it is a start.
For boost - The boost bolt purchased from Diesel Manor works but needs to go to one of the inside bolts on the intake - it is not easy to get to, the bolt is a little shorter than we would have preferred and also doesn't appear as if it could stand a lot of wrenching on it. However take your time, don't get in a hurry or put to much muscle to it and it can be made to work.
For the Trans temp - The fitting given to us did not fit either of the test ports on the 68RFE transmission. We pulled the trans pan and welded in a bung for the sender. I would have preferred to go with an after market pan with larger fluid capacity, but there were none available when we did this. I recently checked and PML now has a larger capacity 68RFE pan (+2 quarts for the 4x4). They are working on a larger one (+4 qts for the 4x4) and said they will have a proto type in testing in Sept with production by the end of the year. I also phoned BD and Mag Hytech (in May) - They were working on them but said closer to the end of the year.
For the pyro probe - We wanted to go pre turbo but did not want to drill without pulling the turbo. There are many techniques for drilling the exhaust manifold without removing the turbo that work for many people I just chose not to. From the looks of the turbo I chose not to remove it either. It was not impossible we just didn't want to get into it. What we eventually did was remove the elbow behind the turbo and mount the probe post turbo. It (the 07) runs fairly hot post turbo (hotter than the 01.5 pre turbo) - it would be interesting to see what it (the 07) runs pre turbo.
Good luck,
George
