2007 2500 NEW TURBO at 9800 miles FIXED THE PROBLEM!

I have been to 3 diffrent dealers a total of 8 times with my 2007 mega cab 2500 4x4 with at the time 8900 " well used " miles on it when the check engine lights and black smoke started. They changed the particulate filter a couple of times. They cleared the lights and sent it home twice, and reflashed it 4 times. I would get about 65 miles befor I would have to take it back. Finally they called Star and talked to "VERON" who said to replace the turbo. It was an internal turbo failure. I have put about 800 miles on and it is running great. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
Thank You "VERNON"

Depending on the dates that you started having issues there may not have been any routes for a tech to take in diag. I had a couple trucks that we simply had to do what they (dodge) told us to do. Finally the bullitin for turbo replacement came down the pipe. I've done three so far and they come vendor direct (cummins), and the old one has to be returned ASAP so that tells me they probably are not sure what is causing it, but working hard to find out.

Just curious, how long did the dealer have your trucks when they replaced the turbo?

In Monday morning, out Wednesday afternoon. The dealer told me that they have to return the old turbo within 48 hours of receipt of the new turbo or pay $4000.

Mine went in the shop Yesterday for a new Turbo. They got it in and called me and said that the new one is bad as well and that they are overnighting ANOTHER one and I will have the truck back tomorrow.

I can't wait until all this is over.

Needless to say i still love the truck.

My buddys turbo replaced several months ago for CEL.Had AU flash the other day and pulled trailer to Kentucky.Called me late yesterday and said had a terrible screaming noise when boosting and paint near turbo on frame appeared to be burning off.Was limping in and trying to stay under 1500 rpm.He is really po'ed and ready to shed himself of this truck.I'm curious if it is turbo failure etc.Ought to know today.

If he has a screaming noise when boosting it sure sounds like the compressor wheel is making contact with the compressor housing because of a bad center bearing. I wonder if they changed the turbo oil supply line going to the turbo? I beat he is mad as all. I would be too.

When they replaced the turbo the line poured when he drove away. Then they replaced the line.Says he's afraid of it going down in the middle of nowhere with his rolling lab in tow.Says he's hunting a 5.9 all day today and maybe when its worn out they'll have the bugs out of the 6.7
