08' 6.7

I've been looking at trading the QC in for a Mega and have also been one of those guys looking at the 5.9 vs. 6.7

Over the past couple of days I've had some dealers tell me that the new 08's are coming in. I've asked the obvious question, Any new changes? Of couse they tell me, "none that we're aware of". Has anyone heard of any new changes made for 08??

I'm not that at all opinionated about which engine is the best ebtween the two, I just want a new Mega.

Since my profile hasn't updated;
2005 5.9 4sp auto QC, SB, Laramie, Bright Silver, Leveling kit (stock motor & trans)

You know, of course, that the only Cummins engine available is the 6.7L.

The only major change I have seen is the addition of a 3.42 gear ratio (vice 3.73 or 4.10). I presume this will positively impact fuel mileage.

I just bought my 07 with the 6.7. I seen the 08's. State package deal emblems changed. Like big horn, thunder, those type emblems are changed, the all new blue-tek diesel badge, and wood grain is back!!! I heard nothing about 3.42 gears. But sales person could be wrong

I'm about 99% sure now I've convinced myself into a 6.7 and the 6spd trans. Coupled with the $3500 rebate for the current model year, its hard to turn down. I'm thinking it would take a substantial change in order for me to wanna look for an 08'.

If I may just vent for a second about my 05, and dealer;

My truck has 35900 miles and I've had into the dealer 6 times since last sept for the a/c alone, and it's scheduled to go in this thursday again. Come to find out they were out of stock on a little tube that keeps your pressure regulated in order for the system to work properly, but delivered it anyway, with no mention that it may not work without it. That was two days after I picked it up for a leaking compressor. When I returned the tech told me of the problem, who said that he notified the service writer, who neglected to tell me....
Every time I've had it in it's had a new leak somewhere in the system. DC suggested I buy an extended warrant in case the dealer can't fix it, which is some what of a disappointment.

Needless to say I'm ready for new truck and I wont be buying from them..

Like I say, one dealer here locally claims to have had one delivered to them. I didn't acually seen it? Nor did the salesman seem to know too much about the 08's.

Maybe it was an early customer order?

I would of expected the 08 to be released in the states long before we seen them here in Canada, we usually don't see them until Sept here in alberta anyway. His was built in july 9th and shipped on july 11th but he didn't say where it was built.
I remember there was one instance when I used to drive truck stateside and I seen one of the first hemi 1500's I called my dealer in canada wanting to order one and he didn't know anything about it, I told him i was standing on the dealer lot (I think it was in vermont) staring right at it, he called me back and told me the states recieves the new models, 6 months earlier than canada.
That was a while ago so it probably changed.

You guys are killing me. You question I even have an 08? Would the build sheet off the window help you? Or how about the ownership? I just retired after 30 years of service with DCX in the transportation section. I have the very first 08 delivered to Canada. My truck went on the line the day they started building 08's, July 9th and was shipped on July 11th. I picked it up last Thursday. I guess that is one of the perks of being a DCX employee with connections. You get something nobody else has yet

$9,000+ for the diesel? Tell me that's in Canadian dollars.....

And since our dollar pretty much sucks right now, what is the option cost in the US?

Yes, $9k Canadian not including the 6spd auto cost if you want it (that's another $1,845).

Since the Cdn and US $ are very close to equal now, Canadians are getting...........taken advantage of. You guys in the US are getting a much better deal on these trucks than we are.
