07 dodge 2500 cummins problem

I am taking my truck back to the dealer. I have the heavy duty slt with the new cummins engine. Right at 460 miles the engine has developed a vibration that goes from idle through top end. You can see it and feel it through out the truck while sitting in park. Does anyone know what could be wrong so when I take it in I can tell them exactly so I dont get the run around.

Sounds like a spun bearing.

Spun bearing vibration? Can't say as that I've ever spun a bearing in a diesel, but I've spun a few in gassers and vibration is not the word I would use to describe it. Rattle can, mega knock maybe...but not vibration.

With that kind of mileage, I'll bet a dollar to a donut that it's something far less drastic. Pulley loose or some such simple fix. Be sure to let us know what the ******* says.

Check your oil and see if it smells like fuel.

I would bet money on a spun bearing/crankshaft.

I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal. However, I have never experienced this with a diesel and I have driven a few. The vibration is like a riding a lawnmower. It is coming from the engine and the only thing I cna think of is motor mount, timing, transmission. I took it to another dealership to get there opinion I should know something tomorrow. I was told it could be part of the break in period, but I think that is bull. I will let you guys know as soon as I find out.

FYI I read that Dodge has a problem with the 6.7 vibrating. They had re engineer to get it to stop.n I found out that I have the 5.9. Which is fine by me.

I was also told it could be the fuel. I have know idea.

Is it possible that he has a bad Harmonic balancer?

Hold on - you have a 5.9 and you thought you had a 6.7? Just want to make sure I understand what you wrote...

I'd say the gentleman probably isn't a "diesel nut" like most on here, and probably just went in and bought a Dodge diesel not knowing or caring if it was a 6.7, 5.9, 6.6, 7.3, etc.
Probably just took comfort in the fact that he was buying the BEST diesel!

But seriously, if it's got a vibration all through the rev range and no hammering, clanking, pounding sounds, it's not a spun bearing. Probably running on 5 because one injector has a bad connection or a big leak. Far more likely and less dramatic.
