When I put mine in I drove home from the garage, about 10 miles, and to work the next day, 7 miles, then loaded my Smarty on level 9 and have yet to have any problems with it. I do not know what the proper break in procedure is but this is how I broke mine in. I know that an automatic says you need 50 to 100 shifts through all gears to break it in before racing/towing if possible.
I see that you are under timing constraints as far as when you get it, and when you need it. I am doing mine this weekend, and I plan on driving it all next week, with a 200 mile trip on Saturday to a dyno day. That should give me around 500-600 before I hook to our TT for my vacation.
