I know that they have a 5-40 truck and suv oil that is rtaed for the diesel service. I have always used the royal purple 15-40 in my older diesel.
Rusty
I've used Rotella Syn, Amsoil and now Mobil I truck/SUV. The rotella is not a tru syn. base stock lile Mobil I or Amsoil. I liked the Amsoil but can not find it at the store and its more expensive than the Mobile I truck/suv.
For me it comes down to availability. Mobile I wins hands down. Warranty is alos an issue - Amsoil is not API certified. They need to get with the program and get their product in all the automotive stores and get API certified. I dont see what the big deal is if their is oil is supposedly better than everything out there.

Guys, I use Petro Canada 5 w 40 synthetic in both summer and winter, can't vote no other choice. Says right on it meets Cummins CES 20071 and 20076, API CH-4, MACK and Volvo standards. I buy it in 5.3 us gal pails for $105 us (20litres for $120Cdn taxes in). Runs Cool in Summer and Starts easy in winter. I've gone 15,000 miles, 25,000 kilometers and its black but its still got some lubricity left. Typically its 10,000 miles. When the truck was under warranty my dealer wanted me to come in every 3000 miles and to use their oil. After looking a my oil bill and the manual, I told them to read the frickin owners manual. Once they saw what the oil was like after long intervals they dropped it. When the warranty was over I dropped them. I should save it to lube everything else. ks
Has anyone used Schaeffer lubricants? I have been on them for about 2 years with a lot of success according to analisys. I tested M1 and it sucked bad! RP is very comparible but much more expensive. I tested this oil (Schaeffer 20w50 supreme 7000 racing blend) in my race car (Toyota Celica 22re 5speed @6500rpms 2nd gear floored for 30 laps) and notice an 18-21F drop in water temp... That is huge! >>> HUGE!
BTW... M1 in Nascar?? hahahahahahahaha Stickers maybe... not the oil they sell off the shelf! RP Redline Amsoil and Schaeffer... Not M1...
I am running the Schaeffer Full Syn 5W40 in my truck now.

Let me throw a new one into the mix and get some opinions. Cummins is now endorsing Valvoline Blue as the preffered oil, at least that's what the box says. Hopin you don't tell me anything bad since I just filled the crankcase up with it tonight.

I already tried Valvoline Blue....for one oil change, but not a second. If there was ever a time in all my years where changing the oil made an engine run noticeably worse, it was when I ran Valvoline Blue in my 05 2500. Everything about the engine was just not as good. Will not try it again.
Thank you all for your input, but just as I mentioned in the opening post of this thread that I was leaning towards Royal Purple...I ordered a big 5 gal. pail from Longrider.com . Good pricing on it so I couldn't resist, and the folks there were great to deal with, probably because they're good ole Okie boys(me too, born and raised).
I think initially, I'll run 1 gallon along with 2 gallons of Delo for 5,000 or so, and then go straight RP. More than likely will also get RP 75W90 for the pumpkins.

Just ONE of the reasons I use Amsoil products.
