Yet another 48RE question...possible issue

Hey everyone. Had a busy weekend doing the front pads/rotors, F & R diffs, and tranny.

My question is directed at the tranny. I have 100K on the clock. I have been experiencing some what feels to me like slipping in 1st going into 2nd. Sometimes it will jerk like its going back and forth. I have never adjusted the bands so felt like it would be an appropriate time to do so while i was under dropping the pan and replacing the filter. Anywho...Adjusted the bands to spec. replaced filter, and filled her back up. The shifts feel more positive and quick now. Except it has still "slipped" a couple times while driving it....doesnt seem like its as bad...but def still present. Only seems to happen while turning from a stop....or going up a hill. if that matters any. Straight line from a stop feels good.

Also, coming to a stop from a higher speed in the upper gears....when i get to around 5mph there is a noticable downshift into 1st. I dont recall ever feeling this when the truck was new. Is this something to be concerned about? Doesnt seem like it does it every time.

I have a feeling I should of replaced the sensor while i had the pan off.....kinda feel like an idiot for not doing so.

PS: shifts from 2nd to 4th all seem positive and smooth. fluid wasnt dark and didnt smell burnt. and there was the typical metal paste on the magnet.. not much though.

There is a shift solenoid that goes bad. $125 or so dollars to have it replaced.

Make absolutely sure you have the right amount of ATF. My tranny is very picky- must be level, warm-up, & in neutral (with the park brake on of course). Even a 1/4 quart in either direction on the dipstick (hi or low) will effect the way mine shifts.

BTW, I reported a shuttle-shift issue after adjusting my bands and doing a total fluid replacement a couple of months ago, seems to have gotten better in the meantime. Maybe they just need to wear in.
