Yeah, I got it finally!

Hello all,

I made a post a month or so ago asking about trucks.
Well, I just wanted to report that I finally found the perfect truck.
It's my first diesel and I couldn't be happier with the purchase!
A big thanks to C5racer on here for taking such good care of it and working out the deal with me.
I will be using it to tow a race car trailer with a few cars in it.
Been reading the forums for awhile now and trying to learn a bunch.

Thanks all!

Here is a pic on the way back home from purchasing it!

I wanted to run my plans by you all though.
I'm thinking of doing a 4" exhaust with something like a bullydog on the tow program. Don't need anything crazy, maybe just a tad more power for the hills and maybe a little better mpg if I can. need to do a lot more research though.
Hell, maybe I'll just leave it bone stock!
One question though regarding warranty and the programmers? If I run it on something like the tow mode, it should be safe right? Also, if anything does happen, can you put it back to stock and take it into the dealer "program wise"? If not, I'm definitely just keeping it stock!

If your truck is an 04.5 it already has the full 4" exhaust on it. Maybe change out the muffler but the rest of it shoudl be OK. (04 305 hp 555 tq - 04.5 325 hp 600/610 tq and cat on 04.5 none on 04 in case you don't know the difference). Other than the Smarty as far as downloaders go it is the only one that dosen't leave a footprint, if you want to use a "Chip" many do not leave a trace. The Quad XZT is 65 hp 150 TQ improvement mostly lower end and is designed as a towing box. Can be removed in 5 minutes, 2 plugs and you are done. If doing any mods gauges should be your first ones or a programer including some type of gauge setup for at least EGT & tranny temp and most also include boost.

I see.
So, they all leave a footprint except the Smarty? Anyone know why?
What about the xzillaraider XZT? Does that leave a footprint too? Seems like a great price for what I want to do. I'm never going to go crazy with it, nor do I need to be able to tune the thing. Just want a little more reliable power.
If you can't add these things without dealing with codes and such, maybe they're not for me. Anyone answer that?

My truck is indeed a 04, and not an 04.5! I need to do some more reading and make sure the MBPR is not to loud. I don't want to loud as most of the driving with this truck will be highway towing and an exhaust that's too loud will get annoying VERY fast!

TIA

A 4" muffler and the turbo made a big difference on mine. It had smoother power good top end after those changes without fuel or electronic changes. Craig

Congrats. That rig looks nice! If you mod, don't forget the gauges.

I've got an xzt tow chip. It's really good down low and ok up high. On the other hand I've noticed a barely perceptible ticking noise whenever I'm running on the interstate and stomp on it. I'm thinking about taking it off I'm not sure I like that. But maybe it's normal from the extra fueling and not really hurting anything I dunno??

Anyone have any good links about general info for my new truck? Maybe a FAQ section or something to that effect?
Recommended oils and change duration? What types of things to watch for? stuff like that?

Thanks!
