Will Auto Tranny from 2001 2500 work in a 2003 3500?

Just wondering if I can use an auto tranny that came out of an 01 2500 diesel and put it into an 03 3500 diesel. Anyone know if it is a direct fit, or if it can be made to fit, or if it is a no go?

It will fit, can't guarantee the 3rd gen computer will be compatible with gov. solenoid, lock up and o.d solenoid or temp sensor values. Some 03s had 47re some had 48's.

The electronics from 01 and 03 are the same. If one is a 47RE and one is a 48RE the output shaft might not be the same.

Output shaft will be the same, only difference IIRC is the planetaries, they are stronger in the 48RE.

If the Sensors are the same ( And I think that change was in 2000 ) then should work just fine.

Seems like there is another change with some switch on the side, but I think that is later than 03......
