my trailer is about 12000lbs, i had an '01 3/4ton that i pulled it with, then an '03 3/4 ton, both were no problem in the pulling part, 03 was more power but when i tried my dually, there will NEVER be a single wheel truck pulling my trailer again, no tail wagging the dog so to speak. there is a huge difference in feel, in a cross wind or head wind there is no comparison. a 3/4 to a 1 ton single wheel.... no there is no big difference, i tried the 1 ton single before purchacing the dually.

You can keep the dual wheels. I'll take a single wheel with a good set of tires.
