will 2500 hold up

will 2500 hold up

i am about to haul a 12,500 lbs tractor about 500 miles round trip and was wondering if a 3/4 ton auto will hold up ok or not. I also have a 1 ton ctd but its alittle older and just kinda wanted to ride in the comfort of an 06 any imput would be cool thanks

Yeah it will hold. You might use tow/haul mode if you have a real heavy load though.

As long as the trailer brakes work properly you will be fine. If you feel uncomfortable, just take it slow and easy. The truck will be fine.

keep in mind the only difference in the 2500/3500 (in the 3rd gens) is 2 helper springs. And maybe 2 extra tires depending on the truck, the rest is the same.

I've got an o5 and the only difference is the rear leaf springs. Engine, drivetrain, rear diff, and tires are the same as the 3500 SRW.

Nope. The only "tow capacity" difference is what's on the sticker. So if someone wanted to get picky, yes the 3500 can legally tow more. But as far as being "safer" I vote no since the trucks are almost identical (except for 2 helper springs).

well I did it and the only thing i could tell that I would have liked to be alittle different is take off. other than that i ran down I 40 at 75 or 80mph the faster i went the better it ran

I guess the torque converter is the weak link when taking off with a load. Did it rev up a lot when you were taking off?

I just read that the 3500drw had 52mm breaks and the SRW has 45mm.
