Wierd EGT reading at cold start up

Hey guys,
I forgot to plug the truck in last night and it was about 8*F
this morning. Anyway I let the grid heaters do there thing and when the light went out I cranked her over. It took about 5 sec., but big deal 3 gallons of Shells finest is alot.
The wierd part is that My EGT gauge shot up to 600* really fast then back down to 350* as the engine came up to 1000rpm.
Anybody have this happen before?
Thanks
Deck

My 03 does that when it is cold too. I remember someone saying the computer gives it more fuel when cold.

More fuel = more EGT.

Also, higher air temp (grid heater) = higher exhaust temp.

Thanks doorguy,
I was hoping it was just all the fuel from the long cranking time being burned.
