Why maint. sched diff on Ca trucks

Hey all,
Have a question that has been buggin me. Why do the California trucks (bought my truck in CA) have a different maintance schedule than all the other trucks. My maint. book says 3500 for light useage, and 7500 for heavy useage. Anyone have any idea why? Thanks in advance
Jason

My 2003 owner's manual has you changing the oil twice as often on the CA/MA trucks (235hp models).

I thought after 04.5 they were all the same though?

When in california is it often necessary to run over pinheaded environmentalists and various other dimwitted reactionaries that the rest of the country does not have in such concentrations (thank god). The wear and tear that results from the botox, silicon and other unnatural substances that tends to get on our drivelines after said incident result in a tighter maintenance schedule. Its an extreme environment.....

Probably for the same reason that the P.R.K. (Peoples republic of Kalifornication) just made it legal for your neighbor to sue you if you smoke a cigarette in your own backyard and your neighbor smells the cigarette smoke. (I'm not making this up).
