It isn't the MOST untrue rumor floating around. Ford did at one time own a percentage of Cummins. Yes, there is unquestionable proof. The Cummins 2/16/1994 proxy statement filing with the SEC lists Ford as a 7.7% owner. Their ownership increased to 7.97% over the following two years then they apparently sold (they don't show up in the filings in '97 and later). They were allowed to own up to 20% but I guess they didn't do it.
