Where to splice into for ignition?
Where to splice into for ignition?
I am hooking up a amplifier. i got the power and ground hooked up. I just need to hookup the blue (remote ) wire yet to a keyed (ignition) source. whats the best place on our 2004 dodge rams? going right to the fuse box under hood or a wire under dash? and which wire? maybe the cigarette lighter wire? what color is it?
You could probably use the same ignition source that you used for your gauges??
I'm not familiar with the wiring color code on your 2004.5, it may be the same as my 2006?? You might try going to Genos website and pulling up the instructions for gauge installs, that should tell you where to source ignition power.
I think I have read a post or two regarding your question, try a search and see what you can find??

your amp will be on all the time. find a wire that comes off the radio when it is powered on just like the directions for the amp requires. or put it to a toggle switch
Under the hood is the electrical fuse box on the front driver side of the engine compartment. I want to say from memory that the is an open power source, number 35 or 37, no fuse installed from factory. Simply take a volt meter and check for power with key on / key off.
I stole a power source from the engine fuse box for several of my power items. I will check tonight and take a picture if need be.

i know that would work but amp will be on whenever key is on/. i just want amp to come on when radio is on. i guess ill have to tap green wire on radio harness but do i need to pull deck? or can i access that radio from a easier spot?
