new to the diesel thing but love the sound of the turbo and hear talk about a silencer ring wheres it located and how do you remove it and or should i remove it thanks in advance

 

Remove the intake tube from the turbo, its the ring right in front of the impeller. It will have a snapring on it. You have to carefully pry out the snapring and NOT scour anything on the turbo. and make sure no foreign debris enters the impeller. Do a search on it and you will find pics and illustrations. Don't do it if you don't think you can, thats a window of opportunity for failure if you screw up, but its a fairly easy deal.
