Some people burn up transmissions, some people don't.

On a side note, I have a friend that when he tows I feel sorry for his transmission... Kinda hard to say something so I just cringe until I have to say something . You don't have to drop 2 gears up every overpass and gas it like it's unloaded from every stop light. Driving through houston the transmission has to change gears 1000 times

wow a lot of myth out there about the 2 trannys. like stated not many hard parts were changed to make it stronger. the lock up stage was sped up by opening up a bleed off passage in the separator plate in the vb. same could be had by drilling a .080 hole above the switch valve(small valve behind the retainer), in the valve body itself. disassemble 46re and 48 re and you will see what I am refering too. they opened the plate allowing the fluid to bleed off faster so the converter locks up faster. what do I know I only built vb's for chrysler about 7 years. longer life of the shaft may be contributed to have it peened by an outside vendor. they were cut the same that is for sure.

Since you know that (and I know that), how about posting the 48RE specifics over the 47 from a 'official' DCX standpoint incl -

increased capacity direct clutch drum

3@ 6 pinion planetaries

increased capacity sun gear shell

increased capacity overdrive clutch

ect.....................

So, yeah - what do you know that we don't, eh?

let the bashing begin but its my opinion
Mine never pulled anything till a month ago and it has slipped since new and wont pull my trailer up my driveway
Not bashing but...that's a little cynical. Others have had somewhat decent results with the 47RE even:

BRayls - I merely meant for you to post any upgrades and improvements besides the ones you and I have already listed - anything else that makes the 48RE better and more reliable than the 47R series - excluding the all electric valve body, of course.

The VB is not all electric on the 48RE. Shifting is till the same old hydraulic type as 47.
