What's the bottom line on XRF balljoints?

I had the XRF in my 2007 3500, they only lasted a year at best, I then went moog, they only lasted 1.5 years, I then went Carli and they lasted 3 years and were still new, I since sold the truck. I will only go Carli when I change them on my 2017.

I have over 120k on XRFs on my second gen and they are still good, truck has had a plow on it for 12 years. Have a set for the 07, has at least 50k on whatever brand is in there now (came with truck) and both lowers are worn.

I can't ever see myself paying the price of Carlis, as good as they are.

I wore out the last set of moog ball joints in 16k. My truck has about 175k on it. My mechanic wants to try the XRF brand and if they go quick also he will give me a deal on a re-installation of better quality BJ's. A lifetime warranty doesn't have much value when you have to pay labor for installation.

Wouldnt bother with xrf. Get EMF, dynatrac or carli. Only 3 options imo.

Those who are having such a short lifespan on ball joints, are you measuring axial and radial play with a dial indicator? Since 2000 model year, there is a wear spec. A certain amount of play is normal and acceptable. I'm not sure if some shops actually aren't aware of this, or are trying to scam some extra work by showing the customer how "worn" their ball joints are.

My experience

2007 2500 long bed quad cab 4 wheel drive. I know this is an old post spanning the last 8 years. Thought I’d share my limited experience. I installed all 4 XRF ball joints in the fall of 2015 with right about 175,000 miles. Now have about 203,xxx miles. Still seem as good as the day installled. I personally feel that there is a lot of relevant information being left out for the users that are experiencing failures. Or even with ones having great results.
My truck has offset wheels with 33x12.50 tires. I live in a pretty rural area and the truck see a fair amount of off road/rough road driving. I don’t expect to get the life out of my ball joints that someone with stock sized wheels and tires and straight highway conditions would get.
Just sharing my experience.

@nlstockstill Excellent post. I am planning to replace the ball joints in my 06 soon and thought the same thing when looking at the various threads on the subject. I run 33x12.50's on stock wheels in hopes of not accelerating the wear on the front end, I'm sure a lot of folks with failures are lifted with heavy offset wheels.
