I hear people with the Jacobs brake say this. Let it be known with the Pacbrake PRXB there is no delay. Brake activation is just about instantaneous.

Pressure, not vacuum, activated Pacbrake, no questions.

PS the delay is from being wired into the ECM. The ECM automatically creates a 2 second delay on the signal wire for the Exhaust brake system. Main reason for delay is on manual trans, that way the brake doesn't come on very time you shift.

Yeah, thats one of the minor problems with the pac. Makes smooth driving more difficult when trottle conditions vary and when shifting a stick. I don't think it matters for the auto.

Hmmm, my Pacbrake PRXB has a two second delay and like someone else mentioned, it's Cummins ECM controlled. Don't know if it makes any difference but my truck has a manual transmission.

the delay on your pac because you run the brake directly off the compressor right? takes time for the compressor to pump up the line and push the diaphram.
with a tank, there is no wait.

Yes, you're correct. I don't have the air tank.

My delay is from the ECM. I have on board air and can cycle the brake as fast as I can push the button, but have the throttle portion of the system wired into the ECM to allow for the 2 second delay to help with shifting.

The ECM is what gives it a 2 sec delay the air tank just makes it a little quicker (1sec 1.5 faster) with an auto trans you don't need any throttle/clutch switches. in a std trans it's a personal prefr 99% of the std trans drives I know don't bother with the clutch switch.

HANDS DOWN, get the Pacbrake PRXB! It is awesome! Get the little air tank too. My buddies all have the jake from the factory, but the pac is so much stronger and kicks in quicker. Upgrade and get a switch you can mount somewhere convenient where you aren't reaching for it everytime you need it. My switch is mounted on the shifter, but I run a manual.

I run Genos shifter know with the button on it for mine... I run a 4" inline pacbrake, no turbo mount to fit the twins! I run mine daily and have never had a problem, close to 25k on it now

I have the switch right by the shift **** but frankly I'm not sure I would do it again. It's convenient but I leave it turned on 99.99% of the time anyway. In southern Nevada you rarely run into slippery conditions where you might want to turn it off.

I bought mine from Lary as well. The install was about 3 1/2 hours. Very easy stuff.

Installed mine last set of days of in May.

I've had about 500 km towing a horsetrailer. I love it. No delay in activation. As far as a clutch switch goes, if you keep slight pressure on the accelerator when shifting (manual), it doesn't cut in - no clutch switch necessary.
